Guo Jian (b.1962, Guizhou, China) is a leading Chinese Australian artist. His work is heavily influenced by the political upheaval and violent culture in China, a period that includes the Cultural Revolution, the Sino-Vietnamese war, and the Tiananmen Square massacre. His recent series concerns waste that generates from China’s ongoing social development and its impact on the environment and human spirit.
